The easy way to make money playing online poker

If you plan to play online poker professionally, or if you’re looking for a steady stream of side income, you need to learn about making money online poker. You need to have a firm understanding of the game and have a solid strategy in place before you spend a dime. It’s more than just wining big hands; there is a definite strategy.

• First of which, you want to be able to set aside enough time to play the full tournament. Sometimes a nine player sit-n-go can last upwards to an hour. Make sure you have enough time to play, and don’t rush. Also, make sure you have an area to play which is free from distractions. If you are playing for money, you want to be able to focus on the game.

• Since there are generally no more than one or two big blinds per hours, small games aren’t worth it. You can’t get rich wining a couple of $5 blinds per hour.

• Don’t count on making money online poker by winning all the big hands. No matter how good you are, sometimes you get out played or get blindsided by another player’s dumb luck.

• Don’t mistake luck for skill. If you end up winning a $500 game, because you had pocket aces, and two more hit the table…that was just luck. You shouldn’t expect that to happen all the time.

• Your primary making money online poker goal isn’t necessarily to have the best hand, it is just to force everyone else out so you can take the pot no matter what they are holding. Again, it is a game of skill and strategy…not just cards.

• Run the pot up whenever you have a good hand. That lets you win more and offset the hands you’ll be losing.

• Fold early and often. You should not be playing every hand. Just play the ones you can win. Don’t chase flushes or straight draw’s unless you think your opponent has a weak hand.

• Don’t get discouraged when you have a run of bad luck. It’s nothing personal. Play tightly and aggressively and you’ll end up leaving that bad luck behind.

• Don’t get too full of yourself. You may be looking good going into the flop, but the table can change in an instant. Watch the other players closely so you can tell if something big just happened.

• Watch your money carefully. Set a daily loss limit and go home if you’ve reached it. Or, you can play a freeroll game and continue to solidify your strategy for free.

• Don’t play with “scared money.” That’s money you can’t afford to lose. If you’re betting your mortgage, you’re not going to be making decisions clearly.

• If you’ve got a string of bad luck that you just can’t kick, fold and walk away. It’s probably not an actual string of bad luck you’re up against; it could be that you’re not bringing your best game. Maybe there are things on your mind you need to clear up before you sit down again. Again, play a couple of free games and work through the kinks.

You can make a lot of money playing online poker. You need to follow the tips I just gave you, and bring a solid strategy, in no time you will be making money playing online poker.

Online Poker Gambling Sees Tremendous Growth

October 31, 2009 by poker player

Online poker gambling at casinos and poker rooms is one of the
fastest growing forms of wagering on the Internet. Fueled by
the televised tournaments seen on Travel Channel’s World Poker
Tour, ESPN with the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP), and
Bravo’s Celebrity Poker, the popularity of the game is seen
everywhere. A huge number of the qualifiers for the 2004 WSOP
gained their entries from playing in online satellite
tournaments for a fraction of the large entry fees paid by
others. Look for more players to enter 2005 world series of
poker satellite tournaments for this reason.

Tournaments at land based casinos are becoming so popular that
people are being turned away, with waits at some lasting two
hours to get a table on the weekends. Smaller land based casinos
are promoting poker tournaments in order to capitalize on the
growing trend of the game. Even though the cut for the house is
pretty slim, they report increasing revenues by the number of
patrons who play other games, buy drinks and food. It is also
allowing them to attract new players which are mostly
twentysomethings and women which expands their customer base.

It seems that most of the upcoming poker stars are a lot younger
than in the past. This is because the years of experience
formally gained at the brick and mortar poker rooms is
compressed into months when playing online. College students
watching Texas Hold’Em poker on TV have taken to playing at
crowded tables on campus or online where they can take advantage
of the 24/7 availability of other players when they can. One
college student stated that “Being able to lie (bluff) and get
away with it is exciting when you know the hand you have is
inferior to the one your opponents have.” Plus being able to
play for free is also a nice way to learn the game which is a
feature that most poker rooms on the Net offer.

Learning the game is also becoming easier with free lessons at
brick and mortar casinos and also The Travel Channel featuring
review and analysis of poker hands on Wednesdays through it’s
WPT Poker Corner. Viewers will learn more in-depth about what
they did not see. Discussions will go over the tells, the big
mistakes, and the bluffing made by others players. This is an
excellent way to learn how to improve one’s game.

With the huge piles of money that people can win, more and more
are getting into the game of poker. The 2005 WSOP championship
for next year will boast a $6,000,000 first place prize and
anyone making the final table will be a millionaire. The 2004
WSOP winner turned a $600.00 entry fee into a massive $5,000,000
check and so many endorsements he quit his job as an patent
attorney. Visit our sister site to learn more about the
2005 World Series of Poker .

It takes much more than a competitive spirit and a healthy desire to win, to make your mark in the poker-playing world. After all no matter how long you have been playing the game, how many tournaments you have won and how much money you have made playing poker, somewhere out there it is more likely than not that someone has considerably more skill than you. And as is the case with other competitive endeavors, the longer you stay in the game, the greater your chances are of encountering someone who can make mince meat out of even your best efforts.

It is clear therefore that players of any level can always stand to use additional instruction from those with more experience than they have. This would go double of course for poker players who are relatively new to the game. The upside to this is that there is a stunning wealth of material—both printed and online—that you can pore through to help you in that ever present goal of improving your poker game to a whole new level of success and enjoyment. How to win at Texas holdem poker: skills versus luck

October 30, 2009 by poker player

Any poker player is aware that either skill or luck can win on any given day. The SMART poker player knows that skill will win out in the long run. Players like T. J. Cloutier, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negraneau, Howard Lederer and Annie Duke all have strong faith in this fact. They have to because it is their bread and butterhow they feed their families!

Lady Luck is a cruel evil mistress and those that are dependent upon her care ride an emotional ruinous roller coaster alternating between extreme highs and extreme lows. Like a Crack Cocaine dealer, she doles out just enough to keep you coming back but it is a long desperate decline to ruin. She will let you win a battle or two along the way just to keep you in step but the war is lost when luck is your ammunition.

If the lucky player has any realm in the poker world it would have to be in the tournament arena where a bad beat eliminates the opposition. Poker fans worldwide watched Chris Moneymaker get lucky time and again during his mind-boggling 2003 ascent to the throne of the poker world. Over and over we saw him push his chips in with the weaker hand only to catch lightening in a jar on the flop, turn or river. His is the rare but perfect example of how one of Lady Luck’s players can catch a good run at the right time and make it to the topfor that moment. Since then Lady Luck has shifted her fickle attention to others and Chris Moneymaker has floundered repeatedly in tournament after tournament.

Had Chris Moneymaker been playing in a live game with those same players they would have simply bought back into the game and taken his cash, car, house and anything else he could have put up for grabs. Moneymaker fans have mistakenly compared him to Doyle Brunson; a long time professional known for pushing hard even when he knows he is behind in the hand. The uninitiated fail to see the difference in the hands played by the two. Doyle may well push hard when he reads a sign of weakness in his opponent even though he knows his hand is behind. The huge difference is Doyle’s hands usually have many avenues to improve as opposed to the two-out lucky strikes of Moneymaker.

When Doyle, Howard, Phil or Annie pushes they usually have a hand that can fill up in a number of ways. For example, they may only have 2nd or 3rd pair but their cards also make up 4 to the flush or an open ended straightor both! Moneymaker was seen repeatedly pushing his chips to the center with pocket 3’s or 5’s which left him only two cards in the deck that could save him.

A serious student of the game knows that it requires skill, patience and discipline to succeed in the long term arena. Successful players study their opponents continuously and adjust their strategy accordingly. Chip stacks, tournament position, player’s table position and even the occasional lucky streak are all elements taken into consideration by a professional grade player before he or she makes their decision.

Holdem news The Inside Scoop On Free Sit N Go Poker

Here is the inside scoop on Free Sit and Go Poker

It is called Free Sit and Go Poker because that is the best way to describe the traffic at the table. You take a seat at the virtual table and wait until the table is filled with other players and you play the game.

Since it is a free game of Free Sit and Go Poker these types of games are a great way to build your poker skills and get the feel of the style of the game without risking a loss. Even if it didnt cost you anything to play, you still need to plan your strategy carefully and learn how to read the other players. No money does not mean you should not play well. You can still learn a lot from free games.

Free Sit and Go Poker Tournaments are a lot of fun and can be educational at the same time. Many times you will be put into situations where your skill, not your luck, will be put to the test. These are the times when you really benefit from the game even if there is no money at risk.

At the beginning of the game, each player around the table is assigned a pre-determined amount of chips. The amount of chips depends upon the cost to buy-in. The prize amounts are also determined by the amount of the buy-in.

The way you can figure the prize pool is by taking the first number, and the amount that the poker room takes in, instead of taking the rake, is determined by the number after the plus sign in this example series below. When playing online you will encounter a number different buy in rates. A few examples of different buy-ins you will see look like:

$5 + $1

$10 + $1

$20 + $2

$30 + $3

The number of chips each player is given depends upon the buy in amount. For example, if its a $30 + $3 level game, or below, everyone seated around the table might be issued only 800 chips. If its a $50 + $5 game, or higher, naturally each player will receive more chips to play with. Each poker room that you play in may vary with the chip structure.

When the game ends, the top three players divide up the prize money. The first place player gets 50% of the prize; the second place player gets 30%, and the third place player collects the remaining 20%. Of course, since it is free, the prize money consists of play money credits. But these free poker games will be valuable for experience as you play other online Sit and Go Tournaments.

Best poker rooms in Las Vegas – Part 3

The best poker rooms in Las Vegas.

I guess it would depend on what type of game, stakes, and challenge your looking for.

For a good game relax no one kicking the back of your seat when your in the middle of thinking about a call. My first choice would be the Stardust.(If it’s still there). It’s like a home game, nice pit boss’s,dealers, and waitress’s.And the stakes aren’t to high they have 3-6,and 3-6 with a kill. And also a no-limit table. And the game is mostly played by resident’s of Vegas.Always playing and waiting for a drunk to stummble to the table and call with anything thinking he is “Chris Moneymaker”.Which now that I think about they aren’t to far off who they are pretending to play like.

Looking for higher stakes? There’s the Wynn which isn’t the best poker room far as layout but there’s alot of rich people that have no idea how to play. And really don’t care how much money they lose.Because they came to play, the game they seen on t.v..There’s the Mirage. Which use to be the best place to see the pro’s of the game. I played there once.It wasn’t very comfortable and it was loud. And it’s a tuff game. And then there’s the Bellagio.Nice layout for the poker room,I think it’s one of the only place’s in town were you can be in a 20-40 game, and the table right next to you is “Jennifer Harman”.There’s always a pro in there and most of them are very nice and will talk to you give you poker tips on how to tighting up your game. The down side is that it is crowded and people ended up bumping in to you knocking your chips over and etc. But it is a very challenging game.I’d have to say that the Bellagio is the best poker room for the expeirenced player. If your new to the game.Stick to somewhere were you can hear what the dealer is saying and not such a quick game, quick game means losing fast and not learning anything in the process.Because we all lose but its the expeirence that you learn what to do and what not to do so that the next time you can make the right decesion..
